The story deals with a woman called Elinor Hammond who fell or jumped from the tenth-floor window of a doctor’s waiting room. The corpse found on the pavement. Her bag is found behind the radiator in front of the window of the waiting room and her hat is on a table. The coroner thinks that she jumped. The victim’s cousin, Louise Baring, says that it seems impossible and she looks for the real reasons of her cousin’s death. A lipstick is missing in the bag of the victim. Mrs. Thompson is the only eyewitness but she died. Louise suspects first Margaret Hammond, Fred Hammond’s sister who’s Elinor husband, for many good reasons.
